The Faculty of Agronomy at the Lebanese University has filed a patent with the Ministry of Economy and Trade (number 1341) for an “essential oil-based formulation for the control of Varroa destructor in Apis mellifera.”

The formula is based on a natural blend of essential oils extracted from plants such as zoub, lemongrass, and lavender. It has proven to be very effective in eliminating Varroa, one of the most dangerous parasites threatening honeybee hives worldwide.
This breakthrough represents a significant scientific and environmental advance, as it offers a sustainable and safe biological solution that replaces traditional chemical pesticides, thereby contributing to the protection of bees, the preservation of biodiversity, and the support of the agricultural ecosystem.
It should be noted that the working
