The Faculty of Information was established on October 5, 1967, initially named “Institution of Press” for media development and personnel training. On October 7, 1968, Decree 11020 was issued, and on March 24, 1975, the name was amended to “Faculty of Information and Documentation”.
On December 20, 2012, under Decree 9586, the name “Faculty of Media and Documentation” was changed to “Faculty of Information”. The Faculty has two branches: one in UNESCO and one in Fanar.
On April 20, 2016, the Lebanese University Council authorized a research center within the Faculty of Media. This center includes divisions such as the Department of Research, Department of Research and Documentation, and the Center of Media Development & Media Personnel Training.
In 2020, the faculty received academic accreditation for all its Bachelor and Master’s programs from the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES) for five years without any requirements.
The Faculty grants Bachelor degrees in various specializations following the BMD system (6 semesters in 3 years), as well as research and professional master’s degrees.

The Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences provides multiple specializations: literature, philosophy, human sciences, languages, archeology, and more. It supports research and community service, promotes openness between Arab and Western cultures, and its research center issues an electronic research journal.

The Faculty of Information adopts curricula in line with the communication revolution and technological development worldwide. The curricula include media sciences, technology, general culture, languages, etc. The research center at the Faculty includes a department for studies, research and documentation, and a center for media training.
